Fake US Address Generator

Generate a random United States address where the city, state and ZIP code belong together, taken from real postal code data. Pick a state or leave it on any state, then copy the full address or a single field such as the ZIP code. Everything runs in your browser.

What is a fake US address generator?

A fake US address generator gives you an address in the American format (street, city, two-letter state code and five-digit ZIP code) for filling in forms during testing, seeding a database or making a demo look real. Here the city, state, ZIP code and coordinates are real and consistent with each other, so the address passes ZIP-to-state and ZIP-to-city checks. The house number, street and unit are invented: the full address is not taken from anyone's records and may not exist.

Random US address examples

Three addresses from the generator. The city, state and ZIP code are real and match; the street lines are invented:

3060 Forest Ln
Fresno, CA 93720
United States
4087 9th Ave, Suite 315
Adams Basin, NY 14410
United States
7368 Jackson St
Tolono, IL 61880
United States

What's in each generated address?

  • Street address — a house number and a common street name such as Main St or Maple Ave (invented)
  • Apartment or suite — Apt, Unit or Suite, on some addresses
  • City — the real city or town of the ZIP code
  • State — the full name, and the two-letter code in the formatted address
  • ZIP code — a real five-digit ZIP code of that city
  • Phone — the local area code with a 555-01XX number reserved for fiction
  • Latitude & longitude — the location of that ZIP code
  • Formatted address — the three-line US format, ready to paste

How to write a US address

A US address takes three lines. First the house number and street, with an apartment or suite after it ("1842 Maple Ave, Apt 4B"). Then the city, the two-letter state code and the ZIP code on one line ("Austin, TX 78701"). Then the country, when the letter comes from abroad. The state code is the USPS abbreviation, such as CA, NY or TX, and the ZIP code has five digits, sometimes followed by four more (ZIP+4).

Common use cases

  • Form testing — verify address fields accept valid United States input and apply correct validation rules
  • Database seeding — populate development databases with realistic United States address data
  • UI mockups — show realistic addresses in design prototypes and screenshots
  • Localization testing — test how your app handles United States address formats and character sets
  • Demo accounts — create sample user accounts without using anyone's real address
  • E-commerce testing — test checkout flows, shipping calculators, and address validation
  • Privacy compliance — use fake addresses in test data instead of real customer records

Fake address by state

Use the State menu next to the Generate button to stay in one state: a fake California, Texas, New York, Florida or Delaware address, or any of the 50 states and Washington, DC. Each state has between 20 and 200 real ZIP codes in the pool, picked so that cities with more ZIP codes come up more often, as they would in real customer data.

A ZIP code, city and state that match

Many checkout and sign-up forms check that the ZIP code belongs to the state, and some fill in the city from the ZIP code. A generator that picks each value on its own fails those checks, with a Texas ZIP code next to an Ohio city. Here all three come from the same entry in the GeoNames postal code database, so they match.

Fake US phone number with the address

The phone number uses an area code from that city, so a Chicago address gets 312 and a Houston address 713. The rest of the number is between 555-0100 and 555-0199, a range kept for fictional use in North America, so it looks like a real number but does not ring anyone.

Fake billing address for testing payments

Payment forms ask for a billing address next to the card. To test a checkout in a sandbox or test mode, pair an address from here with a test card number from the credit card generator. A fake billing address will not pass address verification with a real card, and using one to mislead a merchant is fraud.

Is this data private?

Yes. The address is put together in your browser: the street line is generated there, and the city, state and ZIP code come from a list that is part of the page. Nothing is sent to a server or stored, and refreshing the page discards it.

Want auto-fill instead of copy-paste?

The FormFiller browser extension fills address fields in your forms automatically with one click — no copying and pasting needed. It detects address field types intelligently and fills street, city, state, postal code, and country in milliseconds.

Frequently asked questions

Is this a real US address?

Partly. The city, state and ZIP code are real and belong together. The house number and street are invented, so the full address is not anyone's address on record and may not exist. Do not send mail or parcels to it.

Will the ZIP code pass validation?

A check that the ZIP code exists, or that it belongs to the state or city, will pass. A street-level check, such as the USPS address API, will usually reject the full address because the street is invented.

Can I get an address in a specific state?

Yes. Pick the state in the menu next to the Generate button. Every new address then comes from that state until you switch back to "Any state".

Is the phone number real?

The area code is real for that city, but the number is always between 555-0100 and 555-0199. That range is reserved for fiction in North America, so no one will be called.

Can I use it to sign up for a service that needs a US address?

It is made for testing your own forms, not for receiving anything. It cannot get mail or deliveries, services that verify addresses will reject it, and using a false address may break the service's terms.
